Motive Company began in 2001 witha modest 2 designs. At this momet in our history, we were nothing more than 2 hardcore kids with a small press in a friend’s garage printing shirts for fun. By 2002, we had expanded to roughly 15 designs and tabling at shows on a semi-regular basis. This was around the time that the very first version of our website went online. There was a large shake up in 2003, as Ed, a long time friend and original founding member of Motive moved away, Leaving Doug to recruit Lin, forming the line up that exists today. At this point, we were printing at nights and on weekends, sometimes adding as many as 2 dozen designs at a time to our store. This quickly filled our basement and we went from shipping orders twice a week to packing and shipping orders every day but Sunday. Around 2008, this became too much for us to keep up with and, we opted to turn over the shipping aspect of Motive to Merchnow. This has allowed us to get orders shipped faster and freed up time for us to devote other aspects of the company such as new designs and promotion.

That brings us pretty much up to date. At the end of the day, Motive is still the same basic thing it has always been: 2 vegan and straightedge hardcore kids trying to spread the word.
